Why prayer for Trump gives liberals fits

President Trump has often sought prayer and guidance from Christian clergy and laymen. The president is a man of faith and recognizes that his power and success comes from God. Therefore, it should not be surprising that he would have Christian ministers lay hands on him, pray for him and call others to do the same.

But liberals do not like God, do not like prayer and do not believe in the power of faith. This is why Trump’s worship of God in the Oval Office gives them fits.

Recently, the Rev. Dr. William Barber, a member of the national board of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) and a pastor, harshly criticized President Trump for allowing Christians to lay hands on him. Rev. Barber call such actions “theological malpractice that borders on heresy.”

Apparently, Rev. Barber believes that God was mistaken when He commanded us to pray for our leaders and to pray for our oppressors. Apparently, Barber is a higher authority than God and can determine which Scriptures we should follow.

The Holy Bible says, “I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people – for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. This is good, and pleases God our Savior …” (1 Timothy 2:1-3). But Pastor Barber says the prayer for Trump borders on heresy. Which word do you believe?

Now I am sure the good pastor, with all of his man-given degrees and accolades, will find a way to squirm out of these Scriptures. You can live outside the word of God, but it will not change the word of God.

If Pastor Barber were truly a man of God, he would be leading prayer for President Trump – especially if he thought Trump was wicked and evil. It is those we disagree with we are called to pray for most, but I guess Pastor Barber has forgotten that.

Matthew 5:44: “But I say to you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you.”

Luke 6:27: “But to those of you who will listen, I say: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you.”

Romans 12:14: “Bless those who persecute you. Bless and do not curse.”

The pastor continued his biblical sleight-of-hand by mentioning Amos chapter 2. He said, “There is a text in Amos chapter 2 that says [what] religious and moral hypocrisy looks like when a nation of political leaders will buy and sell upstanding people, when they will do anything to make money, when they will sell the poor for a pair of shoes, when they will grind the penniless into the dirt and shove the luckless into the ditch and extort from the poor. That is an actual text.”

I cannot find this “actual” text in any translation. He is paraphrasing and doing it very weakly. I would invite you all to read Amos chapter 2 for yourself. It seems like the pastor is speaking about the NAACP selling out the poor and needy. It is clearly a warning to his organization. It would have given himself chills if he actually reads it. Amos Chapter 2:6-7:

This is what the Lord says:
“… They sell the innocent for silver,
and the needy for a pair of sandals.

They trample on the heads of the poor
as on the dust of the ground
and deny justice to the oppressed. …”

Then this “pastor” had the nerves to use the word “luckless” in paraphrasing a biblical verse. Christians do not depend upon luck; we have the promises and guidance of God. Luck is a word describing a chance event. Christians believe that all events are ordered or allowed by God. We don’t think of luck, we think of blessings! Let’s stop having our ears tickled and our earthly feeling and fears manipulated with smooth words and a commanding presence.

Beware of false prophets, and be warned of the results of abandoning the word of God. Amos 2 is a great read for America and the NAACP today. Learn about the patience God and His judgments. This Pastor seems to be seeking promotion by men and not fulfilling his calling from God.

I could go on and on but have no hope Rev. Barber will listen or understand. He supports so many unbiblical principles and concepts I fear there is no reasoning with him. I am getting tired of these unsaved, weak pastors misleading black people. They support abortions and homosexuality but sit silently while gangs, drugs and poverty continue to destroy their people and their community. Becoming a pastor is too often a career choice that leads to becoming a community leader. It is often just a business decision, not a calling.

Theses “pastors” are not serving God; they are serving man. They are working to impress the world and keep those people in their care under the oppressive boot of the liberal Democratic Party. All black folks have ever received from them is disaster.

The NAACP is a long way from its glory days. All that remains is a shell of the once-influential and protective organization for improvement and advancement. Now all the organization is good for is spreading propaganda about black victimhood and getting out the black vote for the oppressive, liberal, Democratic slave masters they serve.

I have been speaking about this for decades, wrote a book about it, “It’s OK to Leave the Plantation,” and continue to shed The Light on the problem. I see a real chance of breaking the stranglehold of the con-artists through President Donald Trump and all of those Christians in prayer.

God bless America. Now let’s go Make America Great Again.

We must stay engaged to battle the ‘sheepherders’

Seems like more Americans are engaging the political process. Politics is involved in every single aspect of your life. You may not be involved in politics, but rest assured, politics is involved in your life. You may live in the Land of Freedom, but you cannot do anything without the directive, tax, fee, regulation or authority of your government. From the moment you woke up this morning lying under those government-approved, fire-resistance sheets to driving your highly regulated car and arrive at your job at a business permitted by the State, everything is touched by your government.

You cannot allow the government not to get input from you. Many people are beginning to understand this and are engaging their government for the first time. They are beginning to ask questions, and they do not like the answers. The ugliness of this past election cycle shook folks out of their slumber. They saw that government was working against their best interest. People got involved in their government for the first time. But you cannot stop. You cannot let go. You must stay engaged.

To you friends just venturing into the world of politics, allow me to give you some foundations to stand on. First, politics is a multi-billion dollar business. The larger it grows the more power and influence it has. Don’t believe politics is here to make your life easier; it is here to make the politicians’ lives easier.

Every issue affects every person. There are no “special” issues. There are no black issues, poverty issues or homosexual issues. All issues affect my children, my morals and values. They all effect my taxes, regulations, business and employment. I should have an opinion on every issue. Government cannot grow without your dependency on government growing.

Your personal individual freedoms goes against the philosophy of the government. And you will find that guarding your personal freedom will be a constant struggle with government.

Children cannot sell lemonade on the front lawn without a business permit. Homosexual month is celebrated in schools, and parents cannot opt out, as if the schools are co-parents. Fees and penalties are issued by unelected government workers. When I owned a home in Florida, the county informed me that I had to notify them if a tree blew down on my property; apparently, they own all the palm trees.

I once had a government official tell me he would come on my property to peek into my garage to confirm I was listing all of my personal property to be taxed. He thought only the police needed a warrant to search my home and that he could come by for a visit any time he wanted. I did not know his pay scale, but assured him that he would certainly earn every penny that day.

You can see that those people following political leadership the most are the worse off themselves. The most loyal are the poorest, most dependent and in constant need of government. The most loyal, consistent voters in America are the black inner city voters – giving 90 percent of their votes in loyalty to the Democratic Party. Their reward has been more poverty, gangs, drugs, and no businesses, home ownership, hope or income. The more loyal they are, the richer their political leaders. The more loyal the more poverty, low income housing and deaths in their streets. Politicians should be loyal to you. They should gain their power from your prosperity.

Government leaders and bureaucrats think of themselves as sheepherders, and you are the sheep. They direct, protect and care for the sheep. They have a wolf-like dog to ride herd over the sheep. The government pays no attention to the complaints of the sheep because government is in charge of the food. The sheepherder does not love the sheep; the sheepherder loves rack of lamb. Those who follow the sheepherder will follow them all the way to the slaughterhouse.

You are not sheep. You are grown citizens in a self-governing nation. You should have an opinion on everything and everyone. You should stand up against every restriction aimed at your speech, thoughts and actions. There should be a reaction whenever the sheepherders try to lead and mislead us.

The concept of a government-run health-care system, government retirement age, minimum wage and gun control should be a reason to go into the streets. Who determines a racist, homophobic, anti-Muslim person, and why would that be the concern of the government?

The government thinks hating should be a crime, so they invented “hate crimes” – so now we can’t hate the person we are robbing. The courts ruled on President Trump’s “thoughts” when he issued his travel ban. Why are we regulating Confederate flags? A racist person has the right to be racist. I do not need my government to protect me from my mean neighbor.

Notice that the debate on health care is centered around what form government control over your health care will take. It is not about getting the government out of your health care. Make health care a private-citizen decision, just like my car, homeowner and life insurance. Why is the solution some form of government regulation?

To take my income and give it to someone deemed “entitled” to it is saying that I am not entitled to my income, but someone else is entitled to my income. So to my new politically active friends I say, Welcome. Please do not just get involved in those issues you find important. Join the “We the People” movement and take back control of your lives. Government control breeds poverty, broken families, indoctrination and a loss of liberties.

I am glad to see you have decided to agree with me that “It’s OK to Leave the Plantation!”

This Christmas Season, stand for Christ!

The reason for the season
Mason Weaver
First published 1997

As a Christian that is not ashamed of the Gospel, let me welcome all to celebrate our most wonderful observance. Please feel free to join in with the festivities and recognize the birth of our Savior. But please understand that Christmas is a Christian celebration, not a Christian holiday nor any other event. Understand that you are sharing the most intimate beliefs of many Americans, that “unto us a Child is born, unto us a son is given . . . and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.”

This is not the “Season to be jolly” it is not the time for “Jingle bell rock” and no matter how much you believe, Santa Clause is not the reason for the season. Despite the traditions of America and the world, the story of Christmas has not lost its flavor nor power. It is not about gift giving but about a gift given. It is not about taking but receiving.

I recognize that all will not rejoice in the birth of our Savior, all did not rejoice at his birth. However I ask my kind, gentle, sensitive friends to show compassion and tolerance as we spend time in “spiritual” celebration. All of you who preach diversity and understanding should consider Christmas your opportunity to show us how it is done.

Today there is much debate over the accuracy of the Bible, the “contradictions” in Scripture and separating the Government from the Church. Well I do not care about that this season, I care about my Christian values and beliefs becoming forgotten and forsaken. I care when I see it becoming harder just to be a Christian openly and to express Christian beliefs. We have grown so sensitive to others feelings that we have forgotten our jobs as Christians.

I realize this is the season of renewal of family and other relationships, as it should be. This is the season for showing our love and care for each other. We can use the spirit of the holidays to reach out to those less fortunate than we. But without the birth of Christ this would only be a pagan winter harvest celebration with no historic significance.

This is not the season for more political battles or social struggles. It is not a time for liberals and conservatives, black or white or us and them. All that I am, comes from the beliefs celebrated this season. The principles of family, duty and honor would have no meaning without the beliefs in the birth of Christ. All of my political speeches and opinions would not have a foundation to stand on without the assurances of the birth and resurrection of Christ. So, why would I eagerly share my political and social beliefs and opinions with you without also sharing my spiritual beliefs. It is my spiritual beliefs that all else stem from.

So join in the festivities, come to our Church events, speak with those Christian co-workers and find a Church for Christmas eve. But also take the time to set down with a Christian and compare your beliefs about Christians with the beliefs of a Christian. Find out why other wise sane people truly believe a dead man came out of a grave. Explore what could motivate worship, dedication and a transformation of the hearts of men.

Even if you are skeptic and critical, I invite you to donate a little of your holiday time having a really serious conversation with one of us Christians. Find one that is not ashamed of the Gospel and willing to give all and answer to the faith that lies within us. Search out the contradictions, look for the answer and ask the hard questions.

If you cannot find a Christian to speak to about the real reason for this season, you can email me and I will happily put you in touch with one. Wise men spoke and prophesied his birth, wise men sought him at his birth and wise men still seek him today.

Merry Christmas and May God Bless you!
